- Minkowksy, Phinehas
- (1859-1924)Ukrainian cantor. He was born in Belaya Tserkov. He officiated at Kishinev, Kherson and New York, and later became the chief cantor of the Brody Synagogue in Odessa. He introduced a modern form of service, which utilized an organ and a choir. He taught at the Jewish Conservatory in Odessa and published studies of Jewish music. In 1923 he settled in the US.
